The Globe

Date of Visit: Friday 4th May
Deciding to ignore the horrible weather and pretend that summer was in fact upon us, myself and a few friends went for a post work drink on the seafront. After a beer or two, we all contemplated food, and I had the idea of the Globe after hearing from others that their food was “amazing”. Trundling up from the seafront and into the warm sanctuary of one of my most underrated Brighton pubs, the giant chalk board stating ‘BAR B Q SHACK’ beamed down on us like a ray of sunshine.
The Basketmakers

Date of Visit: 16th April 2012
Basketmakers situated in the North Laines was the pub of choice for a pre-gig beer last Monday. Having come straight from work, I decided to eat there too, having recently read a review from a local magazine rating their burgers one of the best in Brighton – it couldn’t be further from the truth.

Considering the amount of reviews on restaurant food and my aim to provide an extensive range of opinions and reviews on all aspects of Brighton food, here’s a short review of The Windmill pub.
Giggling Squid

Date of Visit: 21st March 2012
It was recently my Dads birthday and I decided to take him out for dinner as a birthday treat as well as have an enjoyable evening catching up. I asked a few friends on restaurant suggestions and Giggling Squid popped up twice. I’d eaten there before when it used to be under a different name (which now completely escapes me!) and really enjoyed it, so I thought I’d revisit it under it’s new guise as the Giggling Squid.
However, I wish I hadn’t.
Pho – Brighton

Date of Visit – Monday 5th March
Pho on Black Lion Street was the restaurant chosen for a recent work meal due to its varied menu and central location. A quirky and clean Vietnamese restaurant, a stones throw away from the Lanes and the beach…
The Open House

Date of Visit: 8th December 2011
After visiting a work colleague in hospital (get well soon Tindleworth), my friend and I decided to catch up over some late evening food and drink. We didn’t want a full on restaurant meal, just a nice pub serving good food.
Fishy Fishy

Date of Visit: 10th August 2011
So, summer is upon us (even though it’s currently raining) and this means good food, good company and good wine. I hadn’t seen my Dad in about 3 months, so we decided on going out for dinner. He fancied fish and white wine and I wholeheartedly agreed. I gave him the option of Riddle and Finns, Regency, the Melrose or Fishy Fishy. Due to time constraints (we had to be near a taxi rank) we both decided on Fishy Fishy..
The George

Date of Visit: 20th July 2011
The George is a pub situated on the bottom of Trafalgar St in the heart of the North Laines, serving fresh food and real ales. I’ve frequented this pub a few times and eaten here only once before. I was told that they recently (as in about 6 months ago) had a refurb and changed chefs etc and I was eager to find out exactly what their spruced up menu was all about.
Al Duomo

Date of visit: 3rd of June 2011
After meeting a friend straight after work at 3pm, by the time we’d enjoyed a couple of Bulmers in the sun on the seafront we were both in need for something quick and cheap to eat. We made our way to Hop Poles, only to find it’s kitchen shut for the week and after much deliberation decided on a cheap Italian. We decided to give Al Duomo’s a try as neither of us had been there for years and we fancied sitting outside, so we made our way into the North Laines.
The Fiddlers Elbow

For those of you that don’t know, the Fiddlers Elbow is an Irish pub just off West St that offers a mixture of live music, Irish themed nights, quiz nights and so forth. Come St Patricks Day you can’t get in for love nor money and it appeals to a wide range of people. It’s also been recommended by a fair few friends as doing amazing pub food.
